Time by itself means nothing, no matter how fast it moves, unless we give it something to carry for us; something we value. Because it is such a precious vehicle, is time - Ama Ata Aidoo.  #Aidoo@80

A new collection of short stories from eight African countries which was to have been launched in Accra on March 19, 2020, at the British Council is out.

Sponsored by Vidya Bookstore, "Between the Generations - An Anthology for Ama Ata Aidoo at 80" is dedicated to the distinguished writer and poet, Ama Ata Aidoo.

Some of her works include the award-winning novel, Changes, and the play, Dilemma of a Ghost, published 55 years ago.

Described by editor Ivor Agyeman-Duah as "International Affairs Through Fiction", the 230-page collection tackles wealth and inequality, immigration, sisterhood, love lost and regained and other contemporary issues of Africa and the world.

Opening with Aleppo by Ama Ata Aidoo, the anthology includes stories by eleven other contemporary African writers: Nigerian novelists, Sefi Atta, Ogochukwu Promise; South African novelist, Njabulo S. Ndebele; Senegalese novelist Boubacar Boris Diop, Ghanaian novelists, Ayesha Haruna Attah, Bisi Adjapon, Martin Egblewogbe, and Gheysika Adombire Agambila; Rwandan writer, Louise Umutoni and Cameroonian writer Ray Ndebi.

Happy 80th to Ama Ata Aidoo, our own celebrated poet, playwright and academic and arguably the greatest living African writer. We appreciate you, Prof. Congratulations. To another 80 years!
